Why I Love Where I Live
Luke (13 years), NSW
Let me start of with telling you where I live. It’s a great place. It has an awesome skate park, and the shops are great too.
The skate park is cool and it is right near the shops and if I have money I can go to the IGA and I buy chips, drink and a ice-block. There is a fish and chips shop and my nan knows the owner, so we sometimes we get free stuff. I go to the skatepark with my brother Jacob. We use scooters, and he just got a new deck for Christmas. He is better, but only because he is older. Usually it’s full of skaters, but some others on scooters.
There are five of us who live in a small house: Nan, three brothers and me. I share a bedroom with my little brother Jordan, which sucks, but everyone has to share. It looks good inside, because Nan looks after it. We just got a new lounge, and we have built-in wardrobes. If you visited you would be able to smell Nan cooking delicious bacon and eggs. We also have a big backyard, and we like to jump on the trampoline.
I just started at my high school this year. It’s good. It’s a very big school with 1500 kids. There were only 200 at my Primary School, so it was a big change for me. The uniform is better than at primary school and I like changing classes. I like that we can use a laptop at high school, because I didn’t have one in primary school.
I like to visit the big shopping centre in [town] because it has heaps of shops, and one time I found $50 on the ground. I like to go the food court for all the different types of food. I also like to just check out the shops. We all go as a family to spend some time together. And I like to go to the Flip Out Mini that is at the shopping centre and I like the gaming arcade on the top floor. [Where I live] is a good place to live. I feel safe and loved here with my brothers and my Nan. I hope other Aboriginal kids get to feel as safe and loved as me.
