In this edition, you'll find evidence-based resources to deliver more effective drug and alcohol education, as well as trusted information to support discussions with your students or clients about alcohol and other drugs.

Did you know that Saturday 31st May is
World No Tobacco DayThis year's campaign aims to reveal the strategies used by tobacco and nicotine industries to make their products enticing, particularly to young people.

These tactics can encourage young people to try nicotine products, increasing their risk of dependance and long-term health effects. To learn more about the effects, check out our factsheets on "Tobacco & Cigarettes" and "E-cigarettes & Vaping".

RESOURCES FOR ABORIGINAL AND
TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER COMMUNITIES
Although research shows some school-based alcohol and drug programs are effective, there's limited evidence on their benefits for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. This factsheet explores the different/additional strategies that have proven to work better for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth, and recommends a suitable drug prevention program for this.
NATIONAL SCHOOL DRUG EDUCATION SURVEY
The 2004 Principles for Alcohol and Other Drug Education are being updated! Researchers are inviting principals and other senior school staff, teachers, wellbeing staff and educators to complete a 30-minute survey. Your responses will help to inform up-to-date and evidence-based resources to support adolescents in Australia.
